The history of video game adaptations is a messy one. Time after time, franchises like “Resident Evil,” “Mortal Kombat” and “Super Mario Bros.” have all had film adaptations marred by budget constraints, lack of creative direction or a lack of authenticity to their source material. Plenty of people gave up hope that video game films or TV adaptations would ever be successful.

QuadWorks transformed Hawkins Arena into a concert hall studded with flashing multicolored lights, bass-boosted speakers and a beautifully embellished stage. The event showcased the local rock/blues band Charles Davis and the Velvet Sound and Macon-based rapper Bob Lennon; the featured artist of the night was viral rapper and singer Doechii.

Mercer’s baseball team hosted Georgia Southern on Wednesday, March 22, losing 12-11. The team faced the same Georgia Southern team earlier in the season, losing 11-0 in that contest in Statesboro.

Mercer University’s dress code was first implemented in April 2004, back when Mercer still had official ties to the Georgia Baptist Convention. Today, students and gym-goers are held to this dress code by Bear Force employees in the University Center Fitness Center during all operating hours. The dress code has stayed consistent since its debut, but some students feel that it is outdated and not equally enforced.

UPDATE: Friday morning, Mercer Police informed the student body via email that 20 vehicles were entered while parked in "multiple Macon campus parking lots." The previous count in this article was at least 10. The email also noted that "additional overnight patrols have been added to deter future break-ins."

Atlanta United has recaptured the attention of Major League Soccer (MLS) behind a sparkling offense and stifling defense. Since they first started playing in 2017, their team was offense-heavy and lightning-quick in transition, scoring goals with regularity not seen anywhere else in MLS. After the 2019 season, however, the team hit a rough patch from which they had not recovered until now.

March Madness carries for Mercer a nostalgic reminder of the eventful day when the #14 Bears stunned the #3 Duke Blue Devils in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Men’s March Madness. To get there, they had to beat the Eagles of Florida Gulf Coast in the A-Sun championship game. Since then, the team has found themselves in the SoCon championship game once, losing to the University of North Carolina-Greensboro (UNCG) in current head coach Greg Gary’s second season.

As many struggling college students can attest, it can be difficult to manage three important resources — time, money and transportation — which are hard to find and even harder to balance. Students constantly engage in opportunity cost analysis without realizing it. They are constructing ways to complete their work, manage their finances and effectively maneuver on and off campus.

Over the past semester and a half, Mercer’s Student Government Association (SGA) has been supporting student organizations and creating opportunities for students to pursue their passions. Student government is made up of a senate, executive officers, and multiple committees, including the powerful Organizational Affairs Committee, which manages student organizations and special funding for those organizations.

Mercer sits on the edge of downtown Macon, reaching from College Street to Little Richard Perriman Boulevard to Ash Street in Beall’s Hill. These streets are major downtown connectors for students at Mercer, and they have each been redeveloped in recent years.
