Mercer University crowned Nathan Weldon ‘26 and Callie Lowery ‘26 as Homecoming king and queen at halftime of Mercer’s final home game of the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025. Mercer alumni, students and fans from all over came to celebrate Homecoming and cheer on the Bears as they faced the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Weldon, of Carollton, Ga., is the president of the Phi Delta Theta, leader of MU Miracle and is a key cog of the University’s Trio programs as a mentor. He said that he’s grateful to his fraternity brothers.
“They have made me the man that I am today and I’m just very grateful to represent Mercer,” he said after being crowned.
Lowery represented the Student Government Association for Homecoming and was elected vice president of SGA in March after serving in the governing body since her freshman year. On top of that, she is a resident assistant for Mercer’s Housing and Residence Life.
“Everyone that I’ve ever loved and has ever loved me and supported me is a little jewel on this crown. It’s not just my crown, it’s everybody’s crown,” Lowery, a told The Cluster Saturday afternoon.
Lowery and Weldon were chosen among six other candidates. For Homecoming king, Aditya Vayalapalli ‘26 for MerServe, Austin Dixon ‘26 for SGA and Luke Johnson ‘26 for Alpha Tau Omega were all nominated on Friday evening in Hawkins Arena after the Lip Sync battle. Teresita Cabral ‘26 for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Gabbie Szatkowski ‘26 for Alpha Delta Pi and Dylan McCormack ‘26 for Phi Mu were nominated for Homecoming queen on Friday as well.
Last year’s Homecoming king and queen, Dalton Loyd ‘25 and Alisha Mitchell ‘26, were on the field Saturday to crown this year’s royalty. Despite her crown falling off her head at first, Lowery’s hold on the crown will last until next November, when it is expected that Weldon and she will host Homecoming 2026.
