A small crowd of students gathered on Cruz Plaza today, supported by faculty, to perform a "peaceful and educational" demonstration in solidarity with other students across America. The protest was organized by Tori Glazier '24, Matthew Simmerman '24 and Belle Hart '24 in order to ask once again for Mercer to respond, acknowledge or agree to their requests that have been publicly expressed since Mercer Police intervened on behalf of the University during a protest outside a guest lecture in April.

Community members gathered in downtown Macon on Monday for the unveiling of bronze markers that display important pieces of Macon’s Black history. The project was organized by Macon200, a bicentennial campaign celebrating the city’s 200-year anniversary since its founding in 1823.

On a bright Saturday morning in Tattnall Square Park, over two hundred people gathered to participate in Mercer's 2024 Out of the Darkness Campus Walk. Every spring, thousands of people all over the country walk in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s (AFSP) mission to bring hope to those affected by suicide.

Since Oct. 7, citizens concerned about the conflict between Israel and Palestine have been protesting the responses of government bodies, political parties, corporations and academic institutions. Recently, students took to Mercer's campus to protest, among other things, guest lecturer Jennifer Grossman, who was invited to teach an extra credit lecture for students for the Center for the Study of Economics and Liberty (CSEL).

Mercer students visited over a dozen booths on Cruz Plaza Wednesday for Mercer's first "Fresh Check Day," a new initiative organized by Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). The event provided student organizations with a platform to promote mental health awareness on Mercer's campus.

The Mercer Allergy Awareness Club (MAAC) recently proposed that the school equip Mercer Police, resident assistants and members of the Mercer administration with EpiPens. The suggestion comes a few years following the death of a freshman on campus who suffered a severe allergic reaction in their dorm.

One of those communities is Mercer Masala, a club focused on the celebration and campus education of south-Asian cultures.

Mercer Village Pizza is set to join the lineup of restaurants in Mercer Village, becoming the fourth pizza establishment to occupy the space adjacent to Z Beans Coffee. The new restaurant is scheduled to open on April 10 and will serve Neapolitan pizza along with a range of other options including wings, sandwiches and a few surprises later down the line.

Mercer students enjoyed free entry to the Cherry Blossom Fair on Thursday at Carolyn Crayton Park. There was a miscommunication with some ticket vendors charging for entry, but wrongly charged students were able to a refund from Mercer’s Campus Life office.
