Mercer won its first SoCon game of the season on Saturday when it took on the Virginia Military Institute over family weekend. The Bears came out on top, 38-3, after a strong show from their defense, as well as big-yardage plays from their offense and special teams.

Late last school year, Auxiliary Services added neon green signs to the three-way stop at the top of the hill between the Auxiliary Services building, the Medical School parking lot and the parking lot behind the first-year dorms. The Bears took to the gridiron on Saturday, registering their first win of the season against the Lions of the University of North Alabama, 17-7. The game, which took place in Montgomery, Alabama’s Cramton Bowl stadium, was the first FCS Kickoff game in which Mercer played, and was the first college football game of the season across the country.

A ransomware group, "Akira," claimed responsibility for a cyberattack against Mercer, according to a tweet published Tuesday. The attack resulted in sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers and driver’s license numbers belonging to Mercer community members being compromised.

At a vigil for late Babatunde “Baba” Agbaje ‘23 on April 11, gatherers had the chance to write a message to the student and his family, as well as to collectively remember him alongside others who knew him. Those who attended were largely upperclassmen who had classes with Agbaje or had played soccer alongside him in his time on the Mercer men’s soccer team.
