The Macon Vintage Market visited Mercer on Friday, bringing with it 20 different vintage vendors, live music and food trucks.
The Market took place at Bear Alley at The Lofts at Mercer Landing, the strip in between the Phase 5 and Phase 7 apartments. Men's and women's tops, bottoms and sweaters, as well as hats, pins and other accessories were all sold at the various tents. Every vendor set up a tent where prospective shoppers could browse through hundreds of curated pieces. Some vendors even sectioned off areas for specific clothing themes, such as Georgia sports. Prices ranged from as little as $5, to over $200 for some of more rare memorabilia and shoes.
While most shops were selling primarily vintage shirts, sweaters and jackets, vendor Stitched Roots sold a collection of authentic metal Olympic pins, including some from Atlanta 1996 and Barcelona 1992, as well as committee pins from Mongolia. Many of the vendors were local and Metro Atlanta small businesses, including Wear Macon, a thrift store in with a physical location in downtown Macon.
Providing background ambience was Macon-based acoustic rock and country duo The Locals, who also performed at Bearstock 2024. The group, consisting of Jackson Waddleton '22 and Andrew Adams '23 performed both original songs, complete with harmonica solos, and popular covers such as "Purple Rain."
The Vintage Market operates on a rotating schedule, setting up shop in various Macon areas in multiple installments throughout the year. More information on new events can be found on its Instagram.
