Baptist Collegiate Ministry hosted “Good to Be Loved,” a campus-wide worship night in Willingham Hall along with other organizations like AGAPE and Delight Ministries on Saturday, April 11.
This event was started five years ago by BCM worship coordinator Nathan Anderson, council member Hayden Cowart, Garrett Donaldson and Grant Williamson, according to Executive Director and Worship Coordinator Nolan Newberry ‘26.
Newberry coordinated the event's rehearsals and overall logistics and divided participating members into sections. At Good to Be Loved, the group listened to a set list of about dozen contemporary worship songs like “Good God Almighty” by Crowder and “Only King Forever” by Elevation Worship.
BCM and Winshape Camps hosted yard games on the Historic Quad before the event officially began.
“Ultimately, the entire goal of Christianity is to unite people and just bring people together under God,” Newberry said. “We wanted to continue that, and as we kept going, we also realized there's just a lot of potential to reach unbelievers on campus, too.”
Winshape Camps is a part of the Truett Cathy Foundation through Chick-fil-A, according to Newberry. He said the camps run day and overnight youth camps throughout the summer in an effort to share gospel with attendees. Newberry was a counselor last summer and arranged with Winshape to sponsor the event over dinner.
AGAPE Ministries was the hospitality coordinator for the event, and Delight Ministries was the choir director. The planning, hosting, equipment and material, and finances were from BCM, according to Newberry.
Grant Skeldon, a pastor and director of Think Ministries, was a guest speaker.
“He has a specific heart for young adult ministry, specifically college ministry,” BCM member Natalie Dix '27 said. “That's kind of what our target is to reach obviously people on campus, so young adults and college students here.”
