Starting anew: Lucas Meinberg's journey as a flautist

After being told to switch instruments in middle school, Lucas Meinberg ‘26, playing the tuba at the time, attempted the sousaphone, which can weigh around 30 pounds and must be carried on the player's shoulder.  But at the start of his high school career, Meinberg discovered his love for an instrument outside of the brass family.  Meinberg, a little less laboriously than the sousaphone, picked up the flute as a freshman.

Braced by transfers, men's hoops plays for semifinal berth Saturday

Mercer returned only four players from last year's men's basketball squad for this year's season, but finished with a 14-1 record at home and a No. 4 seed in the Southern Conference tournament. Today, the team is suiting up for a quarterfinal matchup against Western Carolina University and a chance at advancing to the semifinals for the first time since 2021.

Mercer's new pickleball club serves up interest

A new Mercer organization is hitting the court as a group of students has officially formed a pickleball club this semester to expand the reach of the country's fastest growing sport. The club currently meets at the Tattnall Pickleball Center in Tattnall Square Park, located next to campus, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
