Catrett Locke Casting is coming to Mercer University, as well as Macon and Savannah, Ga. looking for students, athletes and faculty as paid background extras in early May.

The extras will be used for the Judd Apatow film, “The Comeback King,” which will star Glen Powell, according to Ashley Baker, the account coordinator for Allied Global Marketing. There will be a one-day shooting with movie extras on Tuesday, May 4.

“This is a unique opportunity for community members to be part of a professional film production and experience the excitement of a working set firsthand,” Baker said.

In an email to graduating seniors Friday, the University said Powell is cast in the comedy as “a country western music star who finds love and redemption while hiding out in a small town.”

Cristin Milioti, who was in “The Penguin,” will also star in the film. The director, Apatow, has also been involved in movies like “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” and “Bridesmaids.”

Casting is open to all backgrounds and ages, and all who are interested can submit their contact information, name, age and a recent photo to this website. Anyone submitting must work as a Georgia local, and no travel or housing is provided, according to the casting company.

There is also a new talent submission form in which interested parties can fill out general information like their name, date of birth, head and bodyshots, height and weight. According to the casting company’s Facebook, it is looking for experienced ultimate frisbee players who are 18-30 years old.

The movie also includes a graduation scene, which will be filmed over the course of two hours after commencement on May 11. Mercer announced another opportunity to be in the scene in an email to graduating seniors, who can fill out a form to signal their interest in participating.

Extras chosen for the production will be paid $182 for 12 hours, and additional pay will be given if the casting goes beyond the scheduled timeline.

There are separate forms for audio engineers and producers, as well as stand-in actors with experience. There is also a form for those who are interested in an interactive event with the film.

According to the form, the event is free to attend and non-paying on May 4 in Macon, with activities that may include prize giveaways and opportunities to appear in the film. Since the event itself will also be filmed, interested people may be asked to wear specific wardrobe in order to match the scene.

“Students would get the chance to see the day-to-day of a real-life film set while enjoying networking, giveaways and even the opportunity for a Q&A with the main cast,” Baker said.

According to Universal Pictures, the film is set to release in theaters on February 5, 2027.
