A team of Mercer students are working on a research project that aims to tell the story of Mercer’s queer history. The project is temporarily titled “We are Here!” and is a partnership between Common Ground (Mercer’s official LGBTQ+ and Ally organization) and the University Archives.

The 2023 theme for Mercers Homecoming festivities has been announced by Quadworks. This year is themed “Toby Tunes” and will be styled around cartoons and animation, as according to Mercer's Quadworks Campus Activity Board, which organizes Mercer’s Homecoming.

Mercer lost at home on Saturday, falling to 20th-ranked Chattanooga, 22-10. The result moved Mercer’s overall record to 4-3, 2-2 in the Southern Conference, while Chattanooga is 5-2, and 4-1 in the SoCon.

On Aug. 25, the Office of Student Affairs announced that due to driver shortages, the Macon Transit Authority (MTA) bus service would not be in operation for Mercer students until further notice. Prior to the announcement, the service transported students to different locations in Macon, including downtown and various grocery stores.

This fall marks Washington Memorial Library’s 100th anniversary. The library will kick off the celebration on Nov. 9 with an opening birthday party, followed by a year of monthly challenges ending in October 2024.

On Sept. 29, in order to fulfill the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, Mercer University released to students a copy of the 2023 Campus Crime report, which covers statistics from the 2022 calendar year. The University also released information to help students access the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's (GBI) sex offender registry.

Mercer’s biology department recently unveiled a new curriculum for the undergraduate biology major. The transition includes modifications of many introductory and intermediate level biology classes, the addition of new courses, the implementation of a programming component for several labs and changes in the course load for biology and biochemistry majors.
