After going 5-8 last season and losing the season opener to Bellarmine University in 2021, the Bears faced the Bellarmine Knights to open the 2022 season on Saturday. Governor Brian Kemp is facing criticism after he announced his support for a proposal concerning ‘constitutional carry’ legislation. As per Fox5Atlanta, the reform would remove the need for a weapons’ carry permit within the state of Georgia. Currently, a "Weapons Carry Licence" is required to publicly carry a concealed weapon.

2021 was a notable year for LGBTQ literature. Between the highly anticipated release of Melissa Broder’s “Milk Fed” and Torrey Peters’s “Detransition, Baby,” and the relit wildfire of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” and Hanya Yanagihara’s “A Little Life,” it was entirely possible to complete a reading challenge consisting solely of good LGBT stories.

Mercer’s Minority Mentor Program and Office of Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives invited Mercer students, faculty and staff to march across campus Jan. 13 in honor and tribute to the life of Martin Luther King Jr. After the march, attendees gathered in Willingham Auditorium for a keynote address from Mercer University graduate Sheknita Davis.
