QuadWorks and the Iota Eta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. showcased their southern flair at the Boots, Bears and Buckles event on Black Field on Friday, Sept. 5.
Students were encouraged to decorate paper fans and mingle before the line dancing lessons began.
AJ the DJ kept the music going throughout the event, and Tiffaney Reed, of TR TRU Steppers, provided step-by-step line dancing instructions.
“I come from a dancing family,” Reed said. She has taught instructional dance classes for 13 years.
Barbecue chicken is pulled off the grill at Friday's "Boots, Bears and Buckles" event, which was hosted jointly by QuadWorks and the Iota Eta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Free food was first-come, first-served as members of Quadworks and Alpha Phi Alpha served barbecue chicken, baked beans and mac and cheese.
Keeping in theme with the southern culture, students were also encouraged to dress the part. Many students opted to wear boots, denim and cowboy hats.
“I wanted to dress up because I think it's a little extra fun,” Riley Hall ‘27 said.
While not everyone dressed up, the energy was high throughout the night.
