Macon’s artist scene will be on full display at the multitude of holiday artist markets being held across the city over the next few weeks. Running from Nov. 14-22, the Macon Arts Alliance is putting on their seventh annual Fire & Ice Festival in Carolyn Crayton Park.
The event features ceramics and glasswork from artists based in Middle Georgia and across the Southeast. Visitors can come by to admire and buy work from the artists, as well as participate in special workshop events that include glassblowing and ceramic ornament painting.
At the festival’s opening day, Thursday, Nov. 13, a vast variety of work was on display. The room is filled with a multitude of ceramic mugs, bowls, kitchenware and utensils that can serve functional purposes, while other works like vases, tiles and sculptures are more displayable artwork.
Each artist’s booth had its own unique style that varied in size, texture, color and purpose, and perusing the aisles of vendors offers visitors a chance to snatch holiday gifts and other trinkets before long. Among those potential gifts were a blown-glass Christmas ornament and a ceramic cookie platter.
Event entry and parking is free for all visitors, and the doors of the Round Building are open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.
There are many other artist markets on the local calendar in December. Upcoming markets include Marché de Noël Macon Christmas Market from Dec. 5-14, the McEachern Art Center Winter Artist Market on Dec. 6, the Macon Arts Gallery’s Holiday Show 2025 from Dec. 5-23, and stARTup Studio’s Macon Maker Holiday Market Dec. 13-14.
