QuadWorks hosts Hotter Than 2000 fashion show for Homecoming

QuadWorks hosted more than 200 students at the Hotter Than 2000 Fashion Show in Toney Auditorium Thursday at 6 p.m., which coincided with this year’s Homecoming Y2K theme and its festivities.

The show consisted of four events: Best Duo, Best Group, Most Accurate and Best Handmade outfits. Each team participating in the homecoming competitions entered outfits into each category for a chance to earn points in the weeklong contest.

After the hourlong event, QuadWorks Vice President Chloe Jay ‘27 said they planned the event around the 2025 Homecoming theme, but many of the contestants had unique takes on the fashion in the early 2000s.

“I feel like some of us are like Y2k rock or punk alt. And then some of us are like R&B or pop,” Jay said. “We just saw that on stage, and when everybody had their different outfits, you could tell Y2K is not just one thing.”

Hotter than 2000 preceded Friday’s main event and the most popular Homecoming event each year, the Lip Sync Battle. QuadWorks will announce the new leaderboard from the fashion show after calculating the points. The Lip Sync Battle begins at 6:30 p.m. in Toney Auditorium, and the pep rally starts at 8:30 p.m.

Special Events Committee member Kalani McClendon ‘28 provided The Cluster a copy of the leaderboard before the show.
