Photography enthusiasts at the McEachern Art Center snapped pictures of flamenco dancer Elena Moro during a workshop organized by associate professor of Spanish Alana Alvarez on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026.
Moro, who traveled from Spain to Macon, will perform at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday in a Flamenco exhibition at the art center. She led three days of Flamenco-related activities in addition to the photography workshop, including a lecture on Tuesday and a dance class on Thursday.
“When you crop, don’t cut off the feet or hands,” Moro told the class. “The hands tell a story. The face tells a story. The feet tell a story.”
Select photos captured at Wednesday’s class will be displayed at Moro’s weekend performances. About a dozen people attended the workshop, and each person had the opportunity to submit 3-5 pictures to hang behind Moro while she dances.
Art major Fiona Cole ‘26, like others, used her cell phone to take photos.
“The quality isn’t as sharp, but I was still able to get really good photos,” Cole said.
Nathaniel Jordan '29 intends to major in Journalism at Mercer and hopes to work as an investigative journalist. His hobbies include poetry, photography and home cooking, and you can probably find him around Macon shopping or walking through local parks with his wife and son.
