Resident Assistant Kaylee Mixon '28 is encouraging students to bring their friends to “International Lense: A Movie Night” to watch international films, promote diversity and create a relaxing environment for students in Connell Student Center 1 on Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
“This one's theme was EIM, so ethics, integrity and morals,” Mixon said. “The idea of the program was to just create the most inclusive environment that I could.” Mixon aims to make the movie night a “comfy space” for residents to gather with friends. As CSC 1 is an open room, she recommends that attendees bring “a picnic blanket or something cozy to sit on” as they eat popcorn.
Film selections will be based on the attendee’s interests, but Mixon said she will likely screen a Studio Ghibli film.
“Especially if you're studying for exams or you're stressed out, it's really good to take that time to yourself or with your friends to just relax,” Mixon said. “It's a really great community building kind of experience to see other people around you bonding over like a children's movie.”
The program will take place above the Fresh Food Company, and attendees will be directed to CSC 1 via signs in the building. “The idea is people can grab dinner and then just walk up after they're done eating,” Mixon said.
