Behind the scenes with Mercer Players and their new production 'Silent Sky'

Mercer Players debut "Silent Sky" on Thursday this week, the undergraduate theatre group's first production this year. A cast of five people will document the real-life story of astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, a Harvard graduate who was called a “human computer" by her colleagues. Leavitt swam against the tides of discrimination during a time when women were not accepted in science fields.

Chow, concerts and camaraderie: Students fill up Black Field for football tailgate

Mercer students gathered on Black Field beginning at 4 p.m. to celebrate the kickoff of Mercer’s football season against East Texas A&M on Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. The tailgate, part of an annual series put on by Mercer, was jointly hosted by Campus Life and Academic & Advising Services, and featured food, two artist performances and a variety of student organizations.

Model Arab League walked away from their National competition in Washington, D.C. and Bethesda, Md. on March 26-29 with five delegates winning awards after competing against over 20 other colleges and universities from around the country.

Mercer's Model Arab League delegation competed at the National University Model Arab League conference in Maryland, March 26-29, after winning several awards at the Southeast Regional Model Arab League conference at Converse University in South Carolina March 13-15.

Softball begins SoCon play Saturday with win over visiting Samford

Softball (13-13, 1-0 Southern Conference) began play this weekend with a series-opening, 6-4 win against Samford University (9-21, 0-1 SoCon) at Sikes Field on Saturday, March 21. The series will continue today with the second part of the double header and the final game against the Bulldogs at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Bearstock draws hundreds for day of live music, sunny weather

Students filled Cruz Plaza with blankets and chairs as Bearstock started around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 and came to an end at 7:30 p.m. The annual concert, put on by QuadWorks, featured three separate student acts and professional band Hot Chelle Rae and Decatur-born and Grammy-nominated artist B.o.B.

BearSigns hosts BASL & Brushstrokes to preserve the language

The presentation screened a report from ABC News, “Celebrating and preserving Black American Sign Language," which showcased and explained the history and preservation of BASL.
