Men's basketball begins SoCon journey Wednesday after 8-5 start

Men’s basketball (8-5) has defied expectations early this season as it has racked up eight wins through its first 13 games, its most since 2021-22. Ahead of Head Coach Ryan Ridder’s second season at the helm, the team was selected to finish eighth in the preseason coaches’ poll, but it currently sits tied for fourth place going into Southern Conference play.

Mercer football season ends after 47-0 rout by South Dakota

Mercer football’s season ended in the second round of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday as the Bears were shut out 47-0 at home by the University of South Dakota. The loss capped a Southern Conference-winning season in which Mercer went 9-4 overall and advanced to the second round of the playoffs as the No. 6-ranked team in the FCS.

No. 6 Mercer falls to Tigers, earn first-round bye in NCAA Playoffs

Mercer football (9-2, 8-0 Southern Conference) lost to Auburn University (5-6, 1-6 SEC) 62-7 on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025. The following day, the Bears were awarded the No. 6 seed in the FCS Playoffs, and they will receive a first-round bye in their third-straight playoffs appearance. It will be their first Saturday off since Oct. 19.
