The men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted an event Monday in Mercer Village to kick off their seasons. The event featured free pizza and t-shirts as well as bounce houses and basketball goals.

On Oct. 18, the Macon Friends of the Library opened a physical bookstore on 5494 Forsyth Rd. The Friends of the Library is a collection of organizations that started around 50 years ago. The organizations serve in different communities, but all have the same, universal purpose. The organizations, according to Mercer student Ally Brooks ‘23, aren’t libraries so much as they are lifelines for libraries across the globe.

Every year Mercer students make a Pilgrimage to Penfield. This is an annual Student Government Association (SGA) sponsored event that takes students to the original home of Mercer University. However, there were a few changes made to the experience in order to acknowledge and more fully teach students about Mercer's complex history.

Mercer University will host the Second Edition Gothic Festival this spooky season Oct. 26-29. The main part of the festival will be held that Saturday, with the art exhibition, contests and cosplay night hosted in Connell Student Center, Conference Room 1.

A few years ago in a meeting, it was suggested that the Dean of Students takes the place of the Student Government Association (SGA) president for a day and that the SGA president takes the Dean’s position. The idea was at first mentioned jokingly. No one thought it would take flight in the future.

The Bears took on Eastern Tennessee State University on Saturday and won 55-33 against the Bucs. Fred Payton set a record for touchdown passes in one game, completing five in the game.

Macon has been a favored place for many musicians across the years to find their voice and their own unique style. Whether it be Otis “The King of Soul” Redding or the Allman Brothers Band, known for their revolutionary southern rock classics, musicians have been able to make a name for themselves here. However, recently there have been some new contenders entering the ring.

Shocking news from The Try Guys has rocked the internet, which has resulted in Ned Fulmer being removed from the popular YouTube channel. The news of this incident surprised many fans as a statement was delivered from the Try Guys channel on Monday by remaining Try Guys Zach Kornfeld, Keith Habersberger and Eugene Lee Yang.
