Students sing into the night at Lip Sync Battle 2025

Mercer University blasted back to the early 2000s Friday, Nov. 14, 2025 as hundreds of students packed into Tony Auditorium for the annual Lip Sync Battle, one of Mercer’s most beloved Homecoming traditions. With this year’s theme, battlers went all out, sporting low-rise jeans, retro iPods and throwback classics that the crowd chanted, cheered and sang along to.

Vertigo Vinyl spins from freshman dream to record success

Vertigo Vinyl traded jump scares for Florence Welsh’s haunting vocals this Halloween, kicking off the holiday with a listening party on the day that Florence + The Machine released its new album, “Everybody Scream,” on Oct. 31. The shop regularly hosts listening parties for a variety of artists, as it did last week for the popular indie rock band from London. The album blared through the store’s speakers while attendees discussed their favorite songs.

Hands that speak: BearSign teaches students ASL

Mercer University BearSign offered a space for students to connect to deaf culture and learn American Sign Language at their second meeting on Oct. 16. With a turnout of around 20 students in Stetson Hall, BearSign Vice President Eliza Penfield '26 guided students through signing the alphabet. Soon after, the executive team explained how to express emotions, majors and minors using ASL.

A scoop of culture: FSA hosts fourth Halo-Haloween

Mercer University’s Filipino Student Association is hosting their fourth annual Halo-Haloween on Friday, Oct. 31 from 5:30-8 p.m. in room 251 of Stetson Hall. The event’s name is a reference to a Filipino dessert, Halo-Halo, which translates to “mix-mix,” according to FSA President Sophia Petallar ‘26.
