The parade, which began at 4 p.m. and lasted for around two hours, concluded with a float featuring Santa and his reindeer waving to parade goers.
"There are hungry people all over this country — which is the richest country in the world — and we we still have a hunger problem," Lucas said. "There should never be a time when there are hungry people. Not in 2021."
The resolution would lead to the creation of a diverse and all-inclusive urban community with secure, attractive residential and commercial neighborhoods for its citizens to live in.
“When schools improve, the community improves," Morton said. “That's a long way of saying you need leadership that will not only maintain those relationships with stakeholders in the community but continue to grow them.”
The new legislation has changed the sales tax in the county from 7% to 8% on all taxable purchases.
While the burgers-of-the-week participating in the Macon Burger Week have been only seven dollars in the past, the price-per-burger has been raised to a total of ten dollars each this year.
“We feel like it's the right thing to do.” Miller said. “It's something that we needed in our community for a while.”
