Vertigo Vinyl traded jump scares for Florence Welsh’s haunting vocals this Halloween, kicking off the holiday with a listening party on the day that Florence + The Machine released its new album, “Everybody Scream,” on Oct. 31. The shop regularly hosts listening parties for a variety of artists, as it did last week for the popular indie rock band from London. The album blared through the store’s speakers while attendees discussed their favorite songs.
As Wood fell to the ground in a tragic death, clues spewed out of his pockets, leaving attendees to shout accusations and point fingers at one another while Wood circled the area as a ghost, unable to speak or interact.
Mercer University BearSign offered a space for students to connect to deaf culture and learn American Sign Language at their second meeting on Oct. 16. With a turnout of around 20 students in Stetson Hall, BearSign Vice President Eliza Penfield '26 guided students through signing the alphabet. Soon after, the executive team explained how to express emotions, majors and minors using ASL.
Mercer's chapter of Phi Mu hosted its annual charity concert, Bonnamu, to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the Society Garden. The Miracle Network provides funding for around 170 children’s hospitals to assist life-saving treatments, research and financial assistance for patients’ families.
A sea of superheroes, villains and everything in between flowed into Heritage Hall on Wednesday evening for the annual Harvest Fest, where costumed kids decorated paper plates, fished for candy and played a supersized version of “Operation,” among other activities.

Mercer Archives revealed a new, ancient lamp exhibit through their “Let There Be Light” event on Thursday, Oct. 23. Hosted in Tarver Library, the exhibit featured 48 out of the 317 ancient oil lamps in the Holmes Holy Land Ancient Artifact Collection.

The Mercer Women of Minorities Empowering the Neighborhood organization hosted a domestic violence panel to raise awareness and support the Crisis Line and Safe House of Central Georgia on Oct. 15. The organization aims to build community between minority women on campus while serving the neighborhood.
